What is SES?

What is SES?

SES, or Supplemental Educational Services, is FREE tutoring provided under the No Child Left Behind

(NCLB) Act.

SES services are in addition to instruction provided during the school day. These services must be of high quality, research based, and specifically designed to increase a student’s academic achievement.

SES is available for Reading, Math, and Science, and parents can choose the private provider of their choice from those approved by the Florida Department of Education to serve children in Palm Beach County.

HOW DOES A PARENT OR SCHOOL KNOW IF MY CHILD IS ELIGIBLE?

The child may be eligible if he or she:

1. Attends a Title I school and

2. Scored a level 1 or 2 on the Reading, Math, or Science FCAT

Note: The parent will be contacted by their school if their child meets eligibility requirements.

HOW DOES A PARENT SIGN UP FOR SES?

1. They must first decide whether or not they want SES for their child. This service is FREE to families.

2. Then they must choose a provider from the list provided by the school district. All providers have been approved by the Florida Department of Education to offer SES. The school district will provide local Parent Provider Fairs to give the families an opportunity to meet providers and choose the one that best suits the needs of their child.

Note: Completing the application does not guarantee placement. Placement is based on final eligibility and funds.
